I love a good BBQ….meat in the smoker, good friends, and cold beers. Brisket, ribs, smoked chicken and pork, of course! And please don’t forget the burnt ends or delicious sides! Give me that fried okra, cornbread, and mac and cheese! Yes, please!
But let’s face it, it’s a lot of work. If I’m being honest, I actually don’t know how to make any of those things (it’s my husbands smoker). So when I’m hungry for some quick BBQ, my go to place is 4 Rivers Smokehouse, here in Longwood, FL. If you’re not familiar, they have 13 of these restaurants in Florida. For my Disney people, you may have seen their food truck at Disney Springs, “4Rivers Cantina Barbacoa Food Truck”. It’s a must-try quick service spot when you’re looking for something quick and delicious in Disney Springs. But let’s talk about their brick and mortar spot in Longwood, Fl.
My husband usually gets the Ribs but favorite thing to get is the Brisket Sandwich with Fried Okra and Mac and Cheese. It’s so good! But if I’m feeling really hungry, I’ll go for the Messy Pig. And it is a messy pig!! That’s pulled pork between 2 layers of Coleslaw, topped with pickles and jalapeños on a brioche bun with 4Rivers signature sauce! It’s over the top…prepare to get messy! But don’t worry, they have some lighter fare…New Barbacoa Bowls, Smoked Turkey and Chicken as well as Vegan Burnt Ends. I haven’t tried the Vegan Burnt Ends, and probably never will! But it’s an option for those who go meatless.
