Medieval Times: Experience the Epic Dinner & Tournament!

When I think of Medieval Times, I can’t help but think of the movie: The Cable Guy. More specifically, Jim Carrey‘s character going to the dinner show! It is hilarious and pretty accurate!…..well, minus the dinner guests being able to get in the arena and fight!

Things You Need To Know About Medieval Times

If you’re not familiar with Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament, it’s an exciting 2 hour show. There’s 6 competing Knights, beautiful horses, falconry, weaponry, and a Queen. All inside a stone walled 11th century style Spanish castle! It really is impressive.

Prices are: $67.95 (Adults) and $40.95 (under 12) The showtimes are Monday-Friday at 5:00pm. Saturday and Sunday showtimes are 5:00pm and 8:00pm. The doors open 75-minutes prior to the show, but we got there about 40 minutes early. (And parking is free!) There was quite a crowd at the entrance when we arrived. I bought our tickets in advance and I upgraded them to the Queens Royalty package on their website. Look for discount promotions online and on their website. I got a discount which allowed me to upgrade our tickets for a good price. I never pay full price for anything, if I can help it! Since we had the VIP tickets, we were able to bi-pass that large crowd I mentioned earlier, get our assigned color section, and get right into the Hall of Arms!

Once in the hall, guests can get a cocktail, admire the Medieval decor, and do some shopping. There is also a Museum of Torture, which features reproductions of various torture instruments used during the Middle Ages. A little creepy but interesting none the less. Here you can also walk-through many medieval settings, which display medieval artifacts.

When the show is about to begin, trumpeters herald the guests to gather in the great hall. Guests are then ushered into the arena by their color assignment. There are 6 color sections. Each section has its own knight that you will cheer on throughout the show! It’s really fun!

You are are seated in bench seating and served a Four-Course Feast. Garlic Bread, Tomato Bisque Soup, Roasted Chicken, Buttered Corn, Herb-Basted Potato, and dessert. (They also offer an array of meal options for those who are vegan, vegetarian, or gluten free). No utensils are used. Yes, you eat with your hands! “There were no utensils in Medieval times….hence, there are no utensils at Medieval Times!” (If you’ve seen cable guy you know who I’m quoting lol) The dinner was really tasty, I have to say. And the show was a lot of fun! The Knights were handsome, the horses were BEAUTIFUL, and it was full of excitement! We were entertained the whole time. It really is a great show!

If you have a bit of imagination and like to have fun and are looking for something different to do, I would totally recommend this! But definitely look for a discount. I don’t know that I would pay full price for this experience, especially since I know they run good deals fairly often.
