What To Expect at Permanent Vacation Maitland?
Before you can begin your Permanent Vacation, you need to ‘book your vacation’…but more on that later! Upon arrival you’re greeted by your travel agent, who gives you a brief overview of what you can expect on this trip. Upon entry it’s obvious you are in for an experience like no other. Every inch is perfectly decorated in tiki theme.
Did I mention it’s an interactive experience?! It reminds me of Disney World’s Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto! The flashing lights, fog, and voices that come from above, take you on a fantastic journey!
Rum, rum, rum, and more rum! Enough rum to sink The Black Pearl! I really loved their menu. The drinks are grouped by strength. Placebo’s, calmative’s, sedative’s, and tranquilizer’s! Very cleaver and helpful with decision making. I got a Mai Tai and my husband went for something called the Powder Keg. His was served in a little barrel! I also ordered The Bends, a gin based drink that was served in a old style divers helmet. All the drinks were balanced and delicious!
The food menu was just as cleaver as the drink menu. We started with ‘Prawn of the Dead’ which was coconut shrimp. Then a flatbread, ‘Shell-Fish Decisions’, with white bean hummas, sundried tomatoes, lemon, and rock shrimp. I’ve had nothing like it! So good! We also got the ‘Pumbaa’, a braised pork shank. We both thoroughly enjoyed the food and drinks. Top notch!
So, you might be wondering how you can take this Permanent Vacation. Well, you need to make a reservation. This may not be an easy thing to do…at the time of our visit they were still in soft opening and only open Thursday’s, Friday’s, and Saturday’s with reservation’s starting at 6:00. They open up reservation’s on Wednesday’s at noon for the following week….and spots fill up quickly!
If you love tiki bars or just love having a good time, I recommend booking this trip! Definitely put this on your list of ‘Must-Do’s’!
