The Cake Bake Shop at Disney’s Boardwalk: Pros, Cons, and Should You Try it?

As an Orlando local and a frequent Disney-goer, I’m always on the lookout for hidden gems and standout spots. One place that’s been stealing the spotlight lately (and not necessarily in a good way!) is The Cake Bake Shop at Disney World’s BoardWalk Resort.

This charming restaurant and bakery feels like stepping into a fairytale, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite experiences. Let me give you the scoop—the good, the not-so-good, and why I think it might be worth adding to your Disney bucket list.

Why Disney Fans Love It: The Pros

  1. Enchanting Atmosphere
The Cake Bake Shop is pure magic. With its glittering chandeliers, pastel decor, and whimsical touches, it’s like dining in a storybook. It’s the perfect place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the parks.
  2. Incredible Desserts
The desserts here are next-level. Think towering cakes, creamy pies, and pastries that are almost too pretty to eat (but trust me, you’ll want to). My personal favorite? The Millionaire Cake—it was the best cake I’ve ever had!
  3. Savory Options, Too!
It’s not just about sweets. They’ve got a full menu with savory dishes like quiches, soups, and sandwiches. Whether you’re stopping in for brunch or dinner, there’s something for everyone.
  4. Perfect for Pictures
If you’re like me and love snapping pics, this place is a goldmine. Every corner is Instagram-worthy, from the gorgeous desserts to the floral accents. Your feed will thank you.
  5. Location (See below for the Con)
Located on the BoardWalk, it’s super easy to get too, just hop on a bus! Whether you’re coming from Epcot, Hollywood Studios, or one of the nearby resorts, it’s a great spot to unwind and recharge.
  6. Afternoon Tea Experience If you’re looking for an opportunity to spoil or surprise someone with a special experience, this is it! Take that special someone to the exquisite Roses of Gold Afternoon Tea and give them the Royal treatment!
  7. The Bakery Perhaps you don’t want a full sit down experience. The Bakery located next door to the restaurant is just as enchanting and delicious. Open from 7am-11pm. Click to see the menu.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind: The Cons

  1. It’s Pricey
Let’s be real—this isn’t the cheapest place to grab a bite. But for a special treat or celebration, it’s totally worth the splurge.
  2. Rich Desserts
The desserts are huge and decadent, which I love, but they might be a bit too sweet for some. If you’re not into rich flavors, you might want to share a slice. (Which is actually a pro!)
  3. It’s Popular
As one of the newest hot spots, it can get crowded. Be prepared for some wait time, even with a reservation. Grab yours here. Reservations also available Open Table.
  4. Location At Boardwalk Inn For those not staying on Disney property or guests choosing to drive themselves; Be advised that self-parking at The Boardwalk Inn may not be available and valet parking ($42) may be the only option.  Also be aware that without a reservation to a Boardwalk restaurant you may be turned away completely…
