August in Orlando is that weird, wonderful in-between month — the heat is still horribly relentless, the kids are heading back to school, and yet fall decorations are already creeping onto Main Street, U.S.A. It’s giving “one foot in summer, one foot in fall,” and honestly? I’m here for it.
Things To Do In Orlando August 2026 Guide

Theme Parks: Fall Season Creeps In and the Water Parks Glow
August is when the parks officially start their slow turn towards fall, while still squeezing in every last drop of summer heat relief. Here’s what’s worth planning around this month.
1. Walt Disney World Resort: Food & Wine Festival, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Party & H2O Glow Nights
Party season is officially here! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Party kicks off its very first night of the year on August 7 at Magic Kingdom, with additional select nights on August 11, 14, 18, 21, 23, 25, 28, and 30. Ticketholders can enter as early as 4 PM, with the party running 7 PM to midnight, and prices range from $119 to $229 depending on the date.
Insider Tip: On party nights, Magic Kingdom closes to regular day guests at 6 PM, which historically makes those days some of the least crowded to visit if you don’t have a party ticket.
- Cool off after dark: Typhoon Lagoon’s H2O Glow Nights returns for three dates this month — August 9, 22, and 29, from 8 PM to 11 PM. Expect glow-in-the-dark slides, a DJ dance party, exclusive snacks, and character appearances, with tickets running $85–$89.
- Mark your calendar: My favorite event is returning! EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival returns August 27 through November 21, bringing 35+ global food booths and the Eat to the Beat concert series to America Gardens Theatre, with new performers like Lauren Alaina, Fitz and the Tantrums, and Grace Potter joining returning favorites. - Passholders, take note: The V.I.PASSHOLDER Summer Days perks (those juicy 40% dining discounts, the EPCOT lounge, exclusive merch) officially wrapped July 31, so don’t go looking for them this month!
2. Universal Orlando Resort: Horror Nights Arrive & Volcano Bay’s Last Glow
Universal isn’t wasting any time either. Horror Nights launches on select nights beginning August 28 and runs through November 1, with tickets and packages already on sale.
- Catch it before it’s gone: Volcano Bay Under the Stars wraps its run on August 21, so this is your last real window to slide under a glowing Krakatau with a live DJ and DreamWorks character meet-and-greets!
- For the fans: Wicked: The Experience is still open at Universal Orlando, I loved seeing the authentic and replica film costumes and the photo ops were cool!
Eat and Drink: Prix Fixe Season Is In Full Swing
August is basically a two-for-one deal for Orlando foodies — one dining event wraps up right as the city’s biggest one begins.
1. Sip & Savor Weeks: Final Days
Orlando’s Main Street districts are wrapping up Sip & Savor Weeks on August 9, so you’ve got just over a week left to snag those prix-fixe menus at neighborhood restaurants you might not normally splurge on.

2. Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining Kicks Off
This is big and one of my personal favorite Orlando events! Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining returns August 14 through September 30, celebrating its 21st year with a record 188 restaurants offering three-course, prix-fixe menus for just $40 or $60 (plus tax and gratuity).
This year’s lineup includes 38 new restaurants and 16 spots recognized in the MICHELIN Guide Florida. Restaurants I’m planning on booking include Salt and The Cellar by Akira Back, ÔMO by Jônt in Winter Park (I grabbed this one!), and Four Flamingos by Richard Blaise…a Flamingo in Fantasyland favorite!

3. New Restaurant Buzz on I-Drive
Keep an eye on ICON Park, where Michelin-recognized chef Michael Collantes is opening Nomikai by Sushi Saint sometime this summer. Also settling into the neighborhood: Chubby Cattle, an all-you-can-eat wagyu and seafood concept, at Pointe Orlando.
4. Weekly Pop-Ups & Neighborhood Markets
The local staples never skip a beat, even in the August heat:
- The Milk District’s Tasty Takeover: Orlando’s favorite weekly food truck block party happens every Tuesday night.
- Audubon Park Community Market: Every Monday evening, focused on local agriculture, fresh-baked goods, and plant-based finds.
- Orlando Farmers Market (Lake Eola): Every Sunday from 10 AM to 3 PM — that’s August 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30 this month. Grab a cold brew, browse local art, and beat the midday heat by going early.
Beyond the Parks: Tax-Free Shopping and
August isn’t just about the parks — Central Florida has a couple of genuinely special reasons to look beyond International Drive this month.
1. Florida’s Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday
If you’ve got kids (or just love a good excuse to shop), Florida’s Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday runs through August 20, covering clothing and shoes $100 or less, most school supplies $50 or less, learning aids and puzzles $30 or less, and computers $1,500 or less.
Insider Tip: Hit local spots like Winter Park Village or Millenia early in the week — weekends get slammed as the deadline approaches.
2. Wekiva Island August Summer Deals & Events
My Tip: If you are planning a trip to Wekiva Island in August, skip the weekend crowds and take advantage of their weekday summer discounts through Labor Day.
Sounds of Wekiva: Stick around on Friday and Saturday evenings from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM for free live music along the riverfront boardwalk.
Summer Splash Tuesdays: Get 50% off canoe, kayak, and paddleboard rentals all day every Tuesday. It is one of the best value ways to get on the river without paying full price.
Hump Day Wednesdays: Planning a group gathering or birthday celebration? Cabana rentals and event space rentals are 50% off every Wednesday.
Double the Fun Thursdays: Watercraft rentals are Buy One, Get One Free on Thursdays (bring a friend or family member along for a BOGO paddle down the river).
