If you love theme parks, you already know about Universal Epic Universe…have you been yet?! Or are you making plans to go? Here’s everything you need to know before your Epic Vacation!
Universal Orlando Resort’s 4th and largest theme park has officially been open for over a year now (it hit its one-year mark on May 22, 2026), and it’s still one of THE hottest topics in Orlando.
This theme park is a amazing addition to the Universal Orlando Resort — the theming of this park is unmatched — and it came with 3 brand-new hotels (Stella Nova Resort, Terra Luna Resort, and Helios Grand Hotel), a whole slate of new dining, and entertainment you can’t get anywhere else in the city!
Universal Epic Universe sits a few miles from the original parks (Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios, Volcano Bay) and CityWalk, and it does NOT connect through CityWalk the way the legacy parks do. You’ll drive over or, if you’re staying on Universal property, hop the complimentary shuttle.
What still makes it so special (besides the sheer size) is how immersive it is — 5 completely different worlds, each one entered through its own dramatic “portal” so you genuinely feel like you’re stepping into another universe. So what are these worlds??

CELESTIAL PARK
Celestial Park is the centerpiece of Universal Epic Universe and gives you access to the other four worlds. This land takes its inspiration from up above…think a star-filled night sky and outer space! Guests can ride Constellation Carousel (a gorgeous starry carousel) and Stardust Racers, the comet-inspired dueling coaster that’s become one of the park’s biggest headliners — so big, in fact, that Universal shut it down for a 34-day refurbishment between February 19 and March 25, 2026 because demand was so intense.
There’s shopping, a couple of gorgeous restaurants, and now a full nighttime spectacular: Universal Celestial Goodnight, which debuted July 7, 2026, and combines 600 synchronized light fixtures, over 350 fountains, seven million LED lights, and a fireworks finale right in the heart of the park.
CELESTIAL PARK is also home to the first Orlando hotel that’s actually inside a theme park, the Helios Grand Hotel…and it’s every bit as stunning as promised, with its own dedicated entrance straight into Epic Universe.
SUPER NINTENDO WORLD
If you love video games, you’re gonna love this world. Actually, if you love having fun, you’re gonna love this Epic world! SUPER NINTENDO WORLD puts you inside Super Mario Land and Donkey Kong Country alongside Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, and more.
Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge
Still one of the most in-demand rides in all of Orlando…but honestly, not my favorite! You put on the special goggles, steer through iconic courses with Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach, collect digital coins, and throw shells to try to beat Team Bowser for the Golden Cup.
Fair warning: this one regularly posts some of the longest waits in the park, to shave some time off, some ride first thing at rope drop.
Yoshi’s Adventure
The sweet, family-friendly ride through the Mushroom Kingdom where you search for hidden glowing eggs with Yoshi. Still a great one for the littles.
Toadstool Cafe
When hunger strikes, step into Chef Toad’s Toadstool Cafe for a quick, fun bite before your next ride.
Donkey Kong Country
Leave the bricks and hills of Super Mario Land behind and step into the tropical jungle of Donkey Kong Country, home to Mine-Cart Madness, the whirlwind flagship coaster of the area. I thought this ride was super fun! Which is why it’s consistently one of the busiest rides at Epic Universe, so plan accordingly.
While you’re in Donkey Kong Country head over to The Bubbly Barrel and get the DK Crush Float. Banana-pineapple soft serve over pineapple soda with a waffle cone bowl, toffee, and caramel popcorn…It’s so good!
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON – ISLE OF BERK
This land is a stunner! I adore it….and there’s so many dragons. I can’t imagine being a kid and walking in here…they must really feel like they’re in the movie, How To Train Your Dragon!
Here you’ll find an island where Vikings and fire-breathing dragons exist in harmony. Meet Hiccup and Toothless (now officially billed as the “Toothless Meet & Greet”), watch for other Vikings and dragons as you wander the Isle of Berk, and don’t miss Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, the soaring dragon-flight coaster, plus Dragon Racer’s Rally and the Viking Training Camp experience. Look up — you really might catch a dragon flying overhead.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter MINISTRY OF MAGIC
Universal Orlando already had two Harry Potter lands across its original parks, but The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic takes things even further. You’ll wander through Fantastic Beasts’ 1920s Paris, then take the Métro-Floo to the British Ministry in the 1990s for Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, a motion-simulation thrill ride that lands guests deep inside the Ministry alongside Harry, Ron, and Hermione. It routinely posts some of the park’s longest waits, so it’s an Early Park Admission attraction for a reason.
There’s also a circus-level live show Le Cirque Arcanus blending performers, puppets, and special effects, plus character and environmental interactions throughout. Hungry? Cafe L’air De La Serene brings you a Parisian café experience with French-inspired cuisine, indoor and outdoor seating, and yes, you can still get that Bièraubuerre (Butterbeer) with a French twist.
DARK UNIVERSE
The last world, Dark Universe, drops you into Darkmoor Village alongside the classic Universal Monsters — Frankenstein’s monster, the Bride of Frankenstein, Ygor, the Werewolf, and more. Ride Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, the land’s thrilling dark coaster, and Curse of the Werewolf, the family-friendly spinning coaster. Grab a bite at Das Stakehaus or The Burning Blade Tavern (still easy to spot thanks to that burning windmill up top), and if you’re feeling brave, don’t skip the Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience.
Here’s the scoop: Universal has been quietly clearing trees and placing survey markers in the undeveloped backstage plot right behind Dark Universe, widely believed to be the footprint for the park’s first expansion — internally referred to in permits as “Project 680”.
A separately approved permit also points to a water ride unlike anything else currently in the park. Universal hasn’t confirmed a name, theme, or opening window yet, so file this one under RUMOR/UNCONFIRMED for now — but I’ll be watching closely!
What’s New At Epic Universe Right Now
- Universal Nights is officially a thing. This is the first-ever after-hours ticketed event at Epic Universe, happening October 3 and October 17, 2026. Ticketholders get into the park at 7 PM and exclusive ride time from 9 PM to midnight, plus a free Coke Freestyle souvenir cup and select snacks. Tickets went on sale August 13 starting at $179.99 per person plus tax.
- Prices are dipping — if you know when to look. Epic Universe single-day tickets normally run $139–$199, but if you’re a Universal Passholder the pricing has been dropping as low as $94–$107 on select dates this year. I’m taking advantage of these ticket prices in September, FYI!!
- Crowds run hot, but there’s a pattern. Epic Universe welcomed an estimated 10 million guests in its first year, and wait times have swung wildly — from a record 107-minute park average on its busiest day (January 2, 2026) down to much calmer 35–45 minute stretches by mid-summer 2026.
- My tip: aim for a mid-week visit, and skip the shoulder-season holiday weekends entirely.
Thinking Of Visiting Universal Epic Universe?
The biggest change since last year: Epic Universe now has park-to-park access. As of January 1, 2026, Universal launched 3-Day, 4-Day, and 5-Day ticket packages covering all three Universal Orlando parks plus Epic Universe, and you’re no longer locked into just one single entry day at Epic Universe on a multi-day ticket. That’s huge if you’re trying to actually see everything without cramming it all into one day.
The one thing that still hasn’t changed? Epic Universe is still not included in any Universal Orlando Annual Pass. Passholders can currently save up to 40% on select dated 1-Day Epic Universe add-on tickets (that’s the standard 15% Passholder discount stacked with additional summer savings), but you’ll still need to buy that separate ticket here: Universal Orlando. Universal has sent passholder surveys asking about locked-in multi-year Epic-inclusive pass options, so change may be coming — but nothing’s confirmed as of publish time.
Orlando is an exciting place to be! There’s always something new just around the corner. From an ever-expanding fourth gate to a possible Dark Universe expansion already taking shape behind the scenes, Epic Universe is proof that this city never stops leveling up.
